पुलिस ने 2016 के इस मामले में कुमार के साथ ही जेएनयू के पूर्व छात्रों उमर खालिद और अनिर्बान भट्टाचार्य के खिलाफ आरोपपत्र दाखिल किया था।
पुलिस ने कहा था कि आरोपियों ने नौ फरवरी, 2016 को जेएनयू परिसर में एक कार्यक्रम के दौरान जुलूस निकाला और वहां कथित रूप से लगाए गये देश-विरोधी नारों का समर्थन किया था।
